Make your Site Visible

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Now, you finally got yourself a website and you are very positive that it will help your business grow. Your site has all the elements of a good website: 1. Catchy; 2. User-friendly, and; 3. it has all the information your customers need. However, no matter how good your website it is, if it is not optimized properly, there is only a very little chance that your customers will be able to find it in the web. Search Engine Optimization or SEO is important to make your website visible in the search engines.

SEO helps you get lots of traffic from search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN for your targeted keywords. For business websites, it is also important to have some search engine marketing or SEM. SEM is quite similar to traditional marketing and advertising. In here, you buy adwords, promote your site though online advertising and others. However, this time you measure it in a different way.

Fiddler on the Roof

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

I watched the movie Fiddler on the Roof some years ago and somehow, it gives us a glimpse of Jewish culture. The story basically revolves around a Jewish family: Tevye, his wife and his five daughters. Tevye follows Jewish traditions very strictly. His daughters, jewish singles, one by one finds love and moves progressively away from established Jewish customs. The movie also gives us a glimpse of jewish dating and traditions with regards to love and marriage.

I personally like the song Sunrise Sunset. It was sang during the wedding of one of Tevye’s daughters and practically tells the story of people falling in love then getting married and how the single women feel. Although the Jews still follow their customs quite strictly, jewish personals and jewish dating have somehow evolved and adapted the modern culture.

Ever attended a house warming party? You might have had a hard time thinking of the best housewarming gifts to give. Well, I think the best way to know what to give is to check your house for things that you need but do not normally have or often neglect to buy. A personalized door mats or a house sign. Some kitchen tools will also be a good idea.

One of the things that I do need but do not normally have in the house is a set of knives and some containers. Just look at your own house and you will definitely have a good feel of what the best give will be.

Protecting Your Biggest Investment

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

Our house is perhaps, our biggest investment. A big bulk of our hard-earned money goes to paying the amortization or our life savings have been spent in buying our dream house. So, it is just best to protect your investment. It will be so frustrating to have your greatest investment vanish due to fire, storm or other rather unfortunate events. A home insurance is one way to protect ourselves from such loss. Home insurance provides financial protection against disaster.

A typical home insurance policy covers the house, the garage and other structures on your property. The policy covers damages caused by windstorms, fire, theft and other similar forms of disasters. The coverage of insurance depends on the type of policy you have. Although some home insurance already cover the contents of your house, like the furniture, appliances and clothing, in some cases, you will have to get a separate Home Contents Insurance. Yet, it will be wiser to get a Buildings and contents Insurance to have everything covered.

There are various types of coverage so better check all your options. Get a contents insurance quote, home insurance quote, or a building and contents insurance quote and compare the coverage and cost of the policy.

Wedding Insurance, Anyone?

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

A lot of people may not be that familiar on what a wedding insurance is. A wedding insurance is an insurance policy that covers your wedding and financially protects you agains mishaps and misfortune. Since weddings are becoming more and more expensive, it becomes relatively important for people preparing for a wedding to have a wedding insurance. However, if you opted for a less expensive wedding, you might decide to forgo the insurance.

These types of insurance for wedding cover the following:

  • Illness or injury. If you and your partner, or any essential person got sick or injured, causing the postponement of the wedding, the expenses involved with the postponement are covered.
  • Weather. If your wedding got rescheduled because of a bad weather or rain, the policy should cover the cost of rescheduling.
  • Missing Officiant. In case your priest, minister, justice of peace, rabbie or other celebrant did not show up on your wedding, you will be able to get some of your costs.
  • Missing Vendors. If your caterer, florist, photographer, or other vendors did not show up on your wedding, you will recover some costs. In some cases, you can possibly recover the cost of rescheduling the whole event.
  • Location. Your wedding insurance policy can cover the damages to the site, fire, electrical or mechanical problems, or going out of buisness that causes you to lose money or have to reschedule - that is if your ceremony or reception sites don’t already carry their own insurance.

However, your insurance policy does not cover cancellation due to cold feet - for this you might need another type of insurance for your broken heart.
