Working at MicroSourcing
Last September 22, 2008, we were all shocked by the news on the bankruptcy of one of the world’s top financial services firm - the Lehman Brothers. From then on, a lot of depressing news came out about the world’s economy. The world is now experiencing a economic slowdown or economic meltdown as others may call it.
In the past few days more and more companies close down, cut on cost, and more and more people lose their jobs.
This economic slowdown has a tremendous effect on the lives of a lot of people, not limited to the US citizens. It affects all countries, from first world to the third world.
What is the effect of this economic meltdown to the Filipino people? A lot of BPOs now are also retrenching a lot of employees. Termination happens by the hundreds or even thousands. This happened in the company I worked for, although ours is a bit of a different story.
I have worked for various companies before, and by far, MicroSourcing is the best company - in all aspects. I have a great boss who treats everyone fairly and who is also rather friendly. He has a bright mind and a heart for his employees. When this tragedy struck us, his first concern were the 110 people to whom we promised a job. The client informed us six days before the starting date of the project that they will have to postpone it until January of next year.
Just today, he has written a memo addressed to everyone, trying to imbibe a positive spirit to everyone.
It was tough for everyone, but with his honesty, employees felt relieved for they know that they have a General Manager who is honest and who will take care of them.
MicroSourcing may feel the depression that the world is feeling right now, but it is always comforting to be in a company that does business with integrity and with a good heart.
