Rio de Janeiro is a Brazil’s major city. The name Rio de Janeiro means River of January. The city is famous for its carnival celebrations, amazing natural setting, samba and other music. It is also famous because of its local landmark which is a giant statue of Jesus, known as Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) on top of the Corcovado mountian. Rio de Janeiro also has a lot of beaches for the beachbums and watersports fanatics. The City also has the world’s largets football stadiums and the largest forest inside an urban area - the Floresta da Tujica or Tujica Forest.

Among Rio de Janeiro’s most popular destinatinos are the hotel-line tourist beaches such as Copacabana and Ipanema. These places are even made more popular through songs composed and sang by popular artists like Ipanema by Frank Sinatra and Copacabana by Barry Manilow.

I just heard the song New York New York that my mother played. Well, this city that never sleeps never failed to amaze a lot of people.
