In today’s stressful environment, our mental health is highly at risk. Our mental health is basically the way we think, act and cope with life. All of us may have failed, felt sad, got stressed or worried and were able to cope and surpass that stage in our life. However, people with mental illness have lesser coping abilities, thus these negative feelings do not go away easily. In severe cases, they interfere with their daily lives making it hard to keep friends or even hold a job. Among the most commonly known mental illnesses are: bipolar disorder, phobia, depression, and schizophrenia. These diseases are often treatable.
Among the common symptoms or signs of mental illness include drastic personality change, strange or grandiose ideas, prolonged depression or apathy, inability to cope with problems and daily activities, excessive anger, hostility or violent behavior, and abuse of drugs and alcohol. It is better to check yourself for this symptoms and seek medical help. People who have suicidal tendencies should seek immediate treatment.
