Barcelona is the capital city of Spain. It is Spain’s second largest city and with a population of 1,605,602 in 2006, it is also the second most populous city in Catalonia. Barcelona is a major economic center and is one of Europe’s principal ports. It also has Spain’s second largest airport, so you can visit Barcelona, wherever you are in the wold.
It has a Mediterranean climate, with mild, dry winters and warm, humid summer. Barcelona has 68 municipal parks, 12 of which are historic parts, 5 are thematic or botanical parks, 45 urban parks and 6 forest parks. The city is also endowed with 7 great beaches with a total of 4.5 km of coastline.
