Palawan

Palawan is located in the approximately 586 kilometers southwest of Manila. It is nestled between Borneo on the south, China sea on the west, Sulu Sea on the east and Mindoro on the north.

The island is the second largest province in the Philippines, with 1768 islands and a distance of 650 km between the extreme north and south. The island is given the name Palawan by the Chinese way back the 9th century. They originally called it PA-LAO-YU which means land of beautiful safe harbour. Others also believe that it came from the Indian word Palawans which means Territory.

Palawan is one of the few remaining unexplored paradise in the Pacific and is said to have one of the most beautiful seascapes in the world.

The island is famous for its wildlife, marine reserves, reefs, caves, the longest underground river, rare marine species and a lot of other marine and archaeological treasures.
